Antique silver-plated candle snuffer called “la mouchette” in French. This scissor-like tool that was popular in France during the 18th and 19th centuries, was used to delicately put out candles and sometimes trim the wicks to ensure an even clean burn.  

This beautiful piece has a little stand that makes it a beautiful conversation and display piece as well as functional.
