Simple Spring Table Decorating Idea

Domino Magazine recently asked me and 6 other moms for their easy Easter table ideas, which you can see more of here. However I wanted to talk a bit more about here on the blog.

My kids love getting involved with helping me set the table lately so I try to think of easy ways they can help me without making a mess or driving me nuts. :) For Easter, Passover, or just a lovely Spring meal, you can ask the children to help you pick flowers from your local florist or forage if you are lucky enough to have a garden. Then you can gather a bunch of single stem vases then allow the kids to arrange them in whatever order they want. Spread a tablecloth down in a Spring-y color like our rose, mint, citron or even lavande. Then depending on your child's age ask them to add water to the vases or you can give them a hand with that. 

Then I ask my kids to draw the name of everyone and put them in name card holders for each guest. We like to set the table the night before or early in the morning so it is one less thing to do while we prep the meal. So we lay out some mix and match plates, flatware, wine glasses and then finally they tie jute string on the napkins et voila. A simple and very beautiful Spring table is ready for a joyful gathering.
