This pair of framed French Revolutionary bills, also known as assignats, were paper money issued between the years of 1789 to 1796 by the French government to fund the Revolutionary War.  These bills depict the watchful eye at top center and the cockerel below.  They are engraved prints with a decorative border, fleur-di-lis in each corner, and have faint embossing in each side roundel.
